Episode 339: 2019 Year in Review

Hello everyone, welcome to our very special, and last week in Geek for the year!

It's the end of the year as we know it and we feel fine~ And we're excited to review all of 2019 and look over our favorite games we played, streaming movies we watched and most and least enjoyable theatrical releases. We also discuss our streaming review of 6 Underground and answer last week's podquestion of "What is your favorite stormtrooper?"

T
his week's streaming review was brought to you by me.  We watched the Ryan Reynolds and Michael Bay movie 6 Underground on Netflix. First off, let's just appreciate the numerous action-gasam scenes present.  It's as if someone proposed that they wanted to make a movie with Reynolds directed by Bay and... kind of stopped there and just shoved money in their direction.  This is not a great movie by any stretch but it sure as hell was a fun movie.  Both of us recommend you taking the almost 2 hours out of your life to just sit back and enjoy the ride.

For next week, we're going to watch the new Hellboy movie on Amazon Prime... oh boy.

You can suggest a streaming movie that you want us to watch and review on future episodes that are on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ or HBOgo.

Episode 338: Star Wars Rise of Skywalker

Hello everyone, welcome to our very special week in Geek!

This is our Star Wars spoilerific episode.  So consider yourself warned, we give you about minutes of our impressions before laying into this movie with every bit of spoiler material you can imagine.
We are joined, once again by our friend TK, as we break down the Rise of Skywalker

After the travesty that was The Last Jedi, writer/director JJ Abrams returns to the Star Wars universe to try and salvage the Skywalker saga.  Abrams comes out of the corner desperately throwing hay-makers.  While some of these punches hit, more often than not, they miss the mark.  Instead of feeling like a cohesive trilogy, the Disney Star Wars movies feel like cash in squeals.

Episode 337: Jumanji The Next Level

Hello everyone, welcome to our week in Geek!

We're back with another movie review with Jumani: The Next Level. So we give our spoiler filled and spoiler free review and we also review our streaming review of the week, Noelle. We also discuss a few more new trailers and a some bits of nerd news from the Game Awards. We wrap it up by answering last week's Podquestion of "what is the media that you have the best memories of?"

This week's streaming review was kind of both of our suggestion to watch Noelle on Disney+.  With it being a holiday movie we both knew that there was a level of quality and polish  that we should not expect.  That's exactly the way we suggest you go into this one as well.  While Noelle is not terrible, it is very paint by numbers in terms of what makes a holiday movie.. a holiday movie.  For the most part it flows pretty natural but there are so many times that they noticeably are forcing in segments that just don't work.  We don't think this will make it's way into your normal Holiday regimen but if you have the time and want to see something original on Disney+ this may be your only other choice.

For next week, we're going to watch the Ryan Renolds and Michael Bay movie 6 Underground on Netflix.

You can suggest a streaming movie that you want us to watch and review on future episodes that are on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ or HBOgo.

Episode 336: Knives Out

Hello everyone, welcome to our week in Geek!

Sorry for the delay...again... but we still love you all~. But we're back with another movie review with Knives Out. So we give our spoiler filled and spoiler free review and we also review our streaming review of the week, Happy Death Day 2U and discuss a whole slew of new trailers and  a few bits of nerd news. We wrap it up by answering last week's Podquestion of "what is your favorite childhood program?"

This week's streaming review was Bat's suggestion to watch the sequel to last week's streaming review, Happy Death Day 2U on HBOgo. This movie starts off a little different but quickly falls back into more of the same, which isn't a bad thing.  That is, if you liked the first movie.  Since we both had a good time with the original we also had fun with this re-tweaking of the formula.  Same characters but different situations and a different dimension.  As we stated with the last movie, don't get too held up by the hows/whys but instead just enjoy the ride.  The movie has fun with it's concept and makes sure the audience also enjoys the ride.  We both say that this one is worth the watch.

Next week we're taking our first forway into the world of Disney+ original movies with Noelle.

You can suggest a streaming movie that you want us to watch and review on future episodes that are on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ or HBOgo.

Episode 335: A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood

Hello everyone, welcome to our week in Geek!

Sorry for the delay, I was apparently so sick that I deliriously thought I already had posted this episode. But we're back with another tear jerking movie review with A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood. So we give our spoiler filled and spoiler free review and we also review our streaming review of the week, Happy Death Day and discuss a few bits of nerd news. We wrap it up by answering last week's Podquestion of "what is your most hate musical song?"

This week's streaming review was my suggestion to watch Happy Death Day on HBOgo. Surprisingly, we both enjoyed this one.  I definitely had more fun that Bat but the "solve your own murder" in a Groundhogs Day repeat world is exactly what you would want.  It's pretty funny and has some fun with the deaths and the situation.  The part that really prevents it from stepping into next level would be some logic gaps and pulling in the reason for the loops to in movie fiction. We both would say that it's worth your time, but maybe not worth going out of your way to see it.

Surprise, Surprise.  Next week's streaming review is Bat's choice he's having us watch the sequel Happy Death Day 2U  on HBOgo.

You can suggest a streaming movie that you want us to watch and review on future episodes that are on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ or HBOgo.
