Episode 314: Toy Story 4

Hello everyone, welcome to our week in Geek!

It wouldn't be a Bat and Hammer show if one of us wasn't dying. Luckily, I have beaten the plague for now and we're able to record this week and discuss all the nerdy shit that happened. I bring you my spoiler-free review of Aladdin & Dark Phoenix as I saw these solo. We also bring you our spoiler-free and spoiler-filled review of Toy Story 4. Who knew a movie that we didn't want could make us fall in love again. We also get to talk about all the cool E3 news from this past weekend. To wrap it up, we discuss our streaming review of Rim of the World and totally give the cold shoulder to Bat's question of, "Who is your favorite Godzilla villain?"

This week's streaming review was another Netflix original, Rim of the World. I feel like we should be used to this feeling of 'meh' when it comes to original movies from Netflix, but sadly I expected more from this one and was sorely disappointed. This movie tries to cater to 90's and 00's nostalgia while trying to give you a semi-raunchy teen comedy in the vein of 'Goonies'. From our disappointment it should be no surprise that this movie fails on all fronts. We both highly recommend you give this one a hard pass and spend your time elsewhere.

Next week we will be watching Black Klansman on HBOgo. We both really wanted to see this one while it was in the theaters but are excited to give this one a shot now.

You can suggest a streaming movie that you want us to watch and review on future episodes that are on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime or HBOgo.

Episode 313: B&H Host Your Panel PFF Panel 2019

Hello everyone, welcome to our week in Geek!

As we're both out of town this week we wanted to share our other panel from this years Phoenix Fan Fusion. This was our first year doing this panel where we hosted attendee's panel suggestions.  We set a time limit of 5 minutes for each panel and kicked it off by tossing each of our own surprise ideas to the other.  With our own ideas of defending Flat Earth Theory and choosing between BvS and Star Wars Episode 8 as Bat's favorite movie we got into the audience's suggestions. It was such a pleasant and wonderful surprise how much the audience really dug into the idea and some of the suggestions that people provided were fantastic.

The picture below was our reaction from one person's suggestion of "defend how Will Smith's Genie will be better than Robin Williams' version."  Bat's face says it all as he asked "who hurt you?" Seriously, we lost it, that girl was the real MVP.

Unfortunately, something things never change and we do a terrible job of restating people's comments and questions. But we want to thank you all for coming out and participating in this strange and fun little experiment.  We will definitely be doing this again next year!

With that said, this is a live podcast and the audio quality may not always be the best.  But you do get to hear us "ooooh" and "ahhhh" with each new suggestion and struggle on quite a few of the ideas to keep a straight face.

We will be back to the normal format next week with our review of the final Fox Xmen movie with Dark Phoenix.  So thank you for listening and make sure to continue following our adventures using any of the means below.

Episode 312: Go, Go, Godzilla!

Hello everyone, welcome to our week in Geek!

We're back in the saddle again with another one of our highly anticipated movies ready to be reviewed.  This week we bring you a spoiler free and spoiler filled review of Godzilla: King of Monsters (spoilers, I loved it).  We also have a whole heaping helping of nerd news to catch up on as we rush on towards E3.  Lastly we wrap it up with our Phoenix Fan Fusion wrap up, where we talk about what we loved, what we didn't, and what's to become of PFF looking to the future.

For next week we're taking a dip back into the Netflix original well and watching Rim of the World.  It looks to be a group of kids gather together and try to save everything when all the worst alien invasion stories come crashing down a round them.  Here's hoping that we get one of those "diamonds in the rough" from Netflix.

You can suggest a streaming movie that you want us to watch and review on future episodes that are on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime or HBOgo.
