Episode 215: Absolutely Nothing

Welcome back to our  week in geek!  This week we bring you a streamlined week in geek. which is our way of saying there's not much news to be had.  We wrap up some black friday experiences, celebrate me finally joining the PS4 bandwagon, discuss this week's streaming review of Absolutely Anything and answer this week's question of who is your favorite Justice League member.

This week's streaming review was Absolutely Anything. the movie features a rather large and notable cast but really fails to do much with any of them.  Many of the well known actors are relegated to Voice work for some unimaginative and rather boring CG characters.  The movie failed to elicit much laughter from either of us and the writing itself was rather mediocre.  While we didn't expect great things, we were both hoping for a more fun "monkey's paw" tale but were instead left with a rather boring tale that failed to deliver any notable chuckles.  While we don't hate the movie we also would not recommend giving it a watch.  Pass on this one in favor of better comedies out there.

With this week's streaming review we are watching Boss Baby on Netflix.  Neither of us were very excited to see this movie but it received surprisingly good reviews so we're going to give it a shot.

Episode 214: Just-Us League

Welcome back to our  week in geek!  This week we bring you our spoiler-free and spoiler filled review of Justice League.  We also discuss some nerd news along with our streaming review of Purge: Election Year along with answering this week's question of what is your favorite movie to watch for Thanksgiving.

This week's streaming review was one of our long awaiting requests, The Purge: Election Year.  Boy are we happy to finally able to watch this one on streaming.  Bat and I have said that while we didn't particularly enjoy the first movie we thought the concept was interesting.  With the second movie we got to dive further into the mythos and change the movie into more of an action flick.  This final (maybe?) movie ties all 3 movies together while providing even more depth to the world and providing a satisfying, if not somewhat ambiguous, conclusion.  We both had  a good time and would recommend this movie to any Purge fan out there.  Give this one a watch and you won't be disappointed.

With this week's streaming review we are watching the Simon Pegg version of Bruce Almighty, Absolutely Anything.  Also known as one of the last roles of Robin Williams we're not too sure how well this movie is going to do under our viewing as it received a complete lack of press.  Here's to hoping we get a few laughs out of this movie as we watch it on Netflix.

Episode 213: Just Kidding Around

Welcome back to our  week in geek!  This week we bring you truncated episode as I put us on a little bit of a time crunch.  We also are joined by Bat's little one as our special guest star.  While we wait for Justice League next week we review out streaming review of The Voice, talk about the slew of new Star War news, discuss our experiences with Fanfest, and answer this week's question of what is your favorite Disney ride.

Our fourth and final Halloween Streaming Review was The Void.  This suggestion came from one of our friends who absolutely adores horror movies and he highly recommended this one.  But neither Bat nor I can really see why.  We see a lot of opportunity and cool concepts in this movie but none of them really coalesce into anything.  We are left instead with a disjointed movie that left us more confused that scared.  It was hard to keep invested in this one and we both find it hard to recommend this experiment to anyone else.

With this week's streaming review we get back to basics...well sort of.  We get back to normal streaming reviews, and this one in particular has been on our radar for a long time.  Come watch The Purge: Election Year with us on HBOgo and join in on the fun.

Episode 212: Asgardians of the Galaxy

Welcome back to our  week in geek!  This week we bring you our Spoiler free and Spoiler filled review of Thor Ragnarok as well as some Playstation Plus Free Shit Good Shit,  discuss our streaming movie, The Babysitter and answer this week's question of what was your favorite Halloween costume from when you were a kid.

Our third Halloween Streaming Review was the Netflix original The Babysitter.  This movie is best described as a gory Home Alone. While not bad, it is also not very good.  It's that middling quality of production we've come to expect from Netflix originals.  It starts with a good concept but it is poorly executed.  Much in need of some editing and tightening up, this movie flounders and never fully finds its ground.  Bat gave it a hesitant thumbs up but I can't really recommend it and suggest you pass.

This week's Streaming Review has us watching our 3rd horror movie in honor of Halloween.  This week has us watching The Void from a fan suggestion by Jim.  We know nothing about the movie but know Jim's penchant for campy and serious horror, from the trailer it looks like we're in store for the latter.  Join us by watching this movie on Netflix.
