Episode 184: The Great Waah?

Hello and welcome to this weeks belated podcast.  I swear I can get these things posted on a regular...okay semi regular basis.  Thanks for being patient with me.  This week we went into the theaters and watched The Great Wall and we have our spoiler free and spoiler filled reviews just for you.  We also discuss this weeks streaming review of Spotlight and talk a bit about our digital game libraries that we keep on neglecting.

This week Bat wanted us to watch the movie Spotlight, which focused on the child molestation scandal that swept the Catholic Church.  With a cast of well known actors from all across the board and the subject matter we knew this one was going to hit us hard.  What we were shown was some excellent acting that depicted the struggles of a group of journalists trying to uncover one of the biggest stories of recent memory.  Our biggest criticisms were that the passage of time wasn't as clearly conveyed as we would have liked and that we thought there needed to be a little more explanation to all of the cases that the journalists and lawyers refer to.  But these are some minor critiques of a movie that really hit hard and fast and displayed what true journalism is.  We both gave this one 4/5 and highly recommend that you give it a watch.

This week's recommendation is my choice.  We're watching The Nice Guys.  This is one of those movies that we wanted to see in the theaters but just missed out.  Hopefully this movie fits right in for our streaming reviews.  You can watch this one on HBOgo.

You can suggest a streaming movie that you want us to watch and review on future episodes that are on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime or HBOgo.

Episode 183: John Wick is Back

Hello and welcome to this weeks belated podcast.  Due to some computer issues I'm going to keep this short and sweet.  This week we review John Wick 2 and our streaming review of Midnight Special.  We also discuss some nerd news: Kevin Smith canceling Clerks 3, E3 opening up to the public and a Castlevania Netflix show coming soon.

This week's recommendation  of  Midnight Special was an interesting watch.  We both liked it, though surprisingly Bat liked it more.  We both got some Stranger Things vibes, in a good way, and really liked how the story left some questions unanswered.  If you can give this movie about 2 hours of your life you will see something that you don't normally get to see in bigger budget movies... something strange but kind of beautiful.  While Bat gave it 4/5 and I gave it 3/5 we both agree this one is worth the watch.

This week's recommendation comes from Bat... and he wants us to watch Spotlight.  This movie is about the child molestation scandal that swept the Catholic Church.  So... don't expect any light funny moments in this one.  The cast is stellar which can only mean that we are going to feel some very real and uncomfortable emotions.  This movie is on Netflix.

Episode 182: Doesn't Quite Ring a Bell

Hello and welcome to this weeks podcast  This week we bring you our spoiler free and spoiler filled review of Rings as well as our streaming review of The Infiltrator.  We also talk about the recent directing departure of batman and some free shit good shit.

This week's streaming review was the
The Infiltrator.  This movie followed the story of Robert Mazura (Bryan Cranston) who is actually an undercover agent trying to make the biggest Drug Bust of his career.  The acting is top notch and the design of this film is spot on.  Our biggest complaint was that with all of the information and characters being introduced it got a little hard to follow exactly what was going on at times.  You knew big things were happening but weren't always sure of how or why.  But take that criticism with a  grain of salt and enjoy this fun suspenseful drama, I know we both did.  Bat and I both gave it a 3/5 and would definitely recommend giving this one a watch.

This week's recommendation puts us back in the driver seat and I'm having us watch Midnight Special.  This movie looked really interesting when it was out in theaters but I never got around to it so I'm excited to give it a try.  You can find this movie on HBOgo.
