Episode 127: My Dick Is Best

Hello all and welcome back to another episode of Sprecken ze Geek.  This week  I give my spoiler free review of Bridge of Spies and we tackle some good oll Nerd News: Fantastic Four rumors, Jessica Jones Trailer, Square Enix to remake older properties and possibilities for alien life 'found' on the internet.  We also have this weeks streaming review of Oculus   and we continue our review of season 2 of True Detective with episode 2 and 3.

This weeks  streaming suggestion for our Month of Horror is Oculus.  This movie was a hell of a crazy mind trip with more than a few of shudder inducing moments.  We both came out of this one liking the movie, though damn was it terrifying.  I gave it 3/5 and Bat gave it 4/5.

Next weeks streaming suggestion continues our Month of Horror!  Bat's suggestion of Would You Rather is going to be a doozey.  I'm not looking forward to this one as it kind of reminds me of Saw, and that scares me.  Check out the trailer below and shudder.

Episode 126: Eric Captain

Hello all and welcome back to another episode of Sprecken ze Geek and we are getting back to the format.  This week we tackle some good oll Nerd News: Marvel movie announcements and schedule adjustments, Far Cry Primal, Star Wars Battlefront Beta impressions, Jessica Jones teasers and PS4 gets a price drop.  We also have this weeks streaming review  and we start up season 2 of True Detective.

This weeks first streaming suggestion  for our Horror themed month was Dream House.  To start off we both agree that while we enjoyed this movie, it's not really horror but more of a suspense flick.  Now with that out of the way, we can move onto the rest of the review.  We enjoyed how Craig's delusions really started to break down and fall apart but would have preferred that the trailer not have given away this twist.  With that plot point out in the open it kind of ruined the "shock" that one was supposed to feel as his fake world crashed headlong with reality.  The performances were pretty well done but nothing too spectacular and if you were looking for scares you won't find too much here.  We both gave it 3/5 on Netflix but wouldn't recommend it too highly, especially if you've had the movie ruined by the trailer.

Next weeks streaming suggestion continues our Month of Horror!  Oculus is the second entry, provided by one myself.  I'm pretty sure I'm going to come to regret this suggestion as this move really looks like it fits the horror aspect of the month.  heck out the trailer below to see what I mean... I need a buddy for this one.

Episode 125: A Series of Unfortunate Events on Mars

Hello all and welcome back to another episode of Sprecken ze Geek.  We're back after a very busy and fun weekend out at Salt Lake City Comic Con and we have some stories.  This episode we decide keep it lean on the news front and focus on our thoughts and experiences from SLCC as well as review this weeks theatrical release of The Martian and our last Cage Streaming review of The Frozen Ground.

This weeks streaming suggestion was the 4th and final movie in our month of Cage, The Frozen Ground.  Now this one was a surprise to both of us.  While Bat only watched half of it before it was pulled from Netflix, he was really digging what he did see of the movie.  I on the other hand just steam rolled through this thing.  It's based off of true events, which makes it honestly that much more terrifying.  The acting by Cage was pretty good but honestly its Cusack  who steals the show.  His portrayal of the main antagonist is truly unnerving.  The pacing and cinematography are all on point and it made for a damn good movie. Over all I was extremely pleased with it and gave it a 4/5.  Worth the watch, even if only once.

Next weeks streaming suggestion starts off our Month of Horror!  Dream House is our first entry, provided by one of our listeners Kristi.  This mind trip of a movie stars Daniel Craig as he fights between what's real and what's not.  Check out the trailer below for a better idea of what we're in for.
