Episode 103: Comic Conundrums and Questionable Sequels

Hello again to all of you awesome people!  No Theatrical Review this week since honestly there isn't all too much out right now. But we do have a Streaming Review along with a heaping helping of nerd news including: Bruce Campbell wanting to do an 'Expendables' of Horror movies, the Pixels trailer, Mallrats 2 announced, Batgirl and Joker controversy, a run down of Marvel's Secret Wars tie ins, Nintendo's mobile and next gen system plans, Kojima leaving Konami, and Bat's review of Infamous Second Son.

This weeks streaming review was Jack Ryan: Shaddow Recruit.  Both Bat and I enjoy the Jack Ryan series of movies, though we were surprised to find out there was only five of them made so far.  This movie is not bad by any means, not great but it is a fun spy thriller with some good action and decent performances by all involved.  If you are in the mood for a less action but higher concept spy movie give this one a shot.  We both rated it a 3 star on Netflix.

This weeks Streaming Review comes from listener and friend of the show Charles.  Boy Wonder is a movie that neither Bat nor I have ever heard of.  Check out the trailer below to see what you're in for this week.

If you want to join us on this streaming movie you can find this movie on Netflix. You can send us your reviews or your suggestions for our next streaming review via Facebook, Twitter or email us at Batandhammer@gmail.com

Here's some links to the stuff we talked about on this weeks show.

The Pixels trailer looks shiny but Bat has pretty much put this one out to pasture due to Sandlers involvement.  I'm holding out a hope, be it a small one, that this movie could be fun.

Also if you wanted to get a full run down on all of the Marvel Secret War's tie ins you can check out this awesome IGN article that gives the low down on all of them.

Free Shit, Good Shit:

This awesome PC/Android Humblebundle brings us an awesome deal on some great games for both platforms.  My picks for this bundle have to be Costume Quest (a personal favorite of mine) and Ironclad Tactics.  Both of those games along with more (and more to come in a few days) can be yours for a little over 5$.

Episode 102: Cinder- Ella

Welcome back and good morning my favorite listeners, yes I mean you!  We are on a roll it seems with our Theatrical reviews as we hit up our local cinema and caught this weeks release, Cinderella.   Though I do seeing us slowing down since there's not a whole lot happening until Avengers 2.  But what doesn't seem to be slowing down is the news!  This week we discuss the title of the first standalone Star Wars movie, Tron 3 rumored to start shooting, another Ghostbusters movie being announced,  Frozen 2 announced (big surprise there), Zoolander 2 announced, no Marvel at SDCC, HBOgo's limited exclusivity deal and we talk about the passing of Terry Pratchet,

Episode 101: CHAPPiE 5 Alive!

Gooooood morning Everyone and welcome to this weeks over the 100 hump SzG.  Wow do we feel old... 2 years old that is.  As a celebration of sorts we go back to what we do normally and review a movie, CHAPPiE.  This movie apparently got a lot of flak over the weekend and even some of our friends that saw it with us thought the same, but we liked it and we explain why in more detail in the episode.  We also bring you a few bits of nerdy news including both Ducktales and Inspector Gadget getting remakes, Avengers 2 trailer, Supergirl costume reveal and Rock Band lives!!!

To kick it all off we review my streaming suggestion of Chef.  Over all we both really enjoyed this one, the food parts esspecially left me hungry for more.  Seriously this movie alone has me wanting to take a trip to New Orleans for some Cafe Du Monde for some coffee and beignets.  The heart warming story of a father and son connecting over a shared purpose was nice and refreshing (never mind that he was pretty neglecting before).  But the over all feeling of a person seeking an outlet for his creativity really resonated with me and I would recommend the movie to you dear listeners for a fun easy movie while you cook something tasty.

Next weeks Streaming Review is Earth to Echo.  The movie looks to be a found footage esque movie where a group of kids find a little alien and try to get it home.  Feels like a newer version of ET.  Will it be good?  Will it have recces pieces?  Will they replace secret agents guns with walkie talkies?  well watch the movie and send in your own review for next weeks episode.

If you want to join us on this streaming movie you can find this movie on Netflix. You can send us your reviews or your suggestions for our next streaming review via Facebook, Twitter or email us at Batandhammer@gmail.com

Also if you were curious about the band that we're talking about in CHAPPiE here's a strange (kinda catchy in a weird way) song from Die Antwood called Fatty Boom Boom.  The song's NSFW and the video shows how much they don't like Lady Gaga.  Also for the record Yolandi scares the shit out of me in the Yellow and Black make up, it's the stuff of nightmares man.

Here are the answers to last weeks Podquestion of is your favorite comedy sequel??

Charles                     National Lampoons Christmas Vacation
Tristan                      Clerks 2
Bat                            Clerks 2
Hammer                   Hot Shots Part Deux
