Episode 72: Transformium is less than meets the eye
Welcome back to one doozy of a Podcast. This hour and a half episode begins with our review of Transformers: Age of Extinction. But you need not worry out getting this movie ruined for you as we start you off with a spoiler free review and end the show with a spoilerific review with a few friends. Man... that movie...there really are just no written words to describe it. So listen in!
This weekend we also did a Panel at AZ I-Con in Glendale about starting a podcast. This was mostly tips gathered from our own personal experience and was focused on Podcasting in its most basic form. Keeping it easy and trying to make it approachable. You can find the Blog post for that Panel Here and we will probably have the episode up and running in the next couple of weeks.
SzG Podcasting 101: Getting Started
Both Bat and I have now been Podcasting for a little over a year and a half and through all of that time we have made MANY mistakes and had numerous learning opportunities. Being self taught and starting off with no prior experience we both have had to learn as we go.
With all of that said we wanted to maybe give others out there a little bit of help by offering up our experience and showing others how to Podcast. We are by no means experts, we are far from it. But we put out a podcast on a weekly basis and people listen and are able to find it, so I'd say we are at least somewhat competent. As with everything on the internet this is merely opinion but it is given with the best of intent. Hopefully you find something worth while here and if you have any suggestions or comments please feel free to leave them below or send us an email BatandHammer@gmail.com

Episode 71: E.P.I.C. Websense
Hello dear listeners and welcome back for another week in geek! This week we are joined by two very special guests for this very Comic filled episode. Drawn to Comic's Ken "The Web" Brown is back with another edition of The Web Sense with 6 comics you should check out. We also have a new special guest Lonnie Lowe, creator of Dark City Comic's E.P.I.C., to tell us more about his very own comic origin story and tell us more about his comic.
We also review my pick for last week's streaming review The Family. Both of us gave this movie 3 stars on Netflix and thought that over all it was an enjoyable movie worth at watch, just not repeat viewings. In particular I thought the son and daughter characters were easily my favorite and only wished they had more time on screen. For myself I can say that the biggest downfall to the movie was that after the big battle at the end there wasn't really much of a climax. Instead we were left with a "but wait there's more there's more" type of ending except there won't be more. If you have a lazy day and want to get a few chuckles then give it a watch.

Episode 70: How to Train Your Dragon 2oothless
Hello and Welcome back for another week in geek! This week we chose to review How to Train Your Dragon 2 (sorry 22 Jump Street, maybe later). We give you our opinions of this high flying flick in both Spoiler-Free and Spoiler-ific fashion. I also double dipped and caught an early morning showing of Tom Cruise's Edge of Tomorrow and was pleasantly surprised by what it offered. Definitely worth the price of admission for any person wanting a scifi battle flick. I'll have a more in depth review of Edge of Tomorrow later this week, so keep an eye peeled.
Bats suggestion for this week’s Streaming Review is called TheDirties. This movie was promoted through Kevin Smith’s movie club, calling it one of “the most important films of the year.” The movie is about two best friends filming a comedy about getting revenge on the bullies at their high school. Only, one of them isn't joking. Both of us felt a little empty after watching this movie. Bat only gave it 2 Stars while I gave it a generous 3 Stars on Netflix. We came to a consensus that the movie felt like it was just missing a strong endgame, or point, that it was really driving home. It is tough to watch the main character slowly degrade from just filming a movie to actually plotting and carrying out a school shooting. But the way it ends it just left me hanging without any sense of resolution. I honestly can't recommend this one.
Skewing back to a more light hearted streaming suggestion, my pick for this week is the Robert DeNiro and Michelle Pfeiffer comedy, The Family. Here's the trailer below if you are curious.
This movie can be found on Netlfix so If you want to be a part of the review next week make sure to send us your reviews via Facebook, Twitter or email us at Batandhammer@gmail.com
This week we also discuss the brunt of E3 news and go over the Nintendo/Sony/Micosoft/EA/Ubisoft Conferences, more specifically an Open World Zelda, Uncharted 4, Vita TV and Rainbow 6: Siege. We also talk about the newly announced (rumored) DC Movie Slate, cartoon versions of Rat Queens and Peter Panzerfaust and a new Borderlands Comic hitting shelves soon!
I also bring you a mini edition of Free Shit, Good Shit with 2 Humblebundles:
Speaking of cool things from E3, here are just a few on the ones that we talked about on the Podcast
Halo: Master Chief Collection/Halo 5 Trailer
Untitled Legend of Zelda Game
Uncharted 4: A Thieves End
Rainbow Six: Siege
Splatoon:

I also bring you a mini edition of Free Shit, Good Shit with 2 Humblebundles:
- First off is the Weekly Bundle called Indevision which includes fun games like Serious Sam and the cool Minecraft Documentary. Pay only $15 bucks to get it all
- Second on the list is HumbleBundle's AudioBooks Bundle. The only notable for me is Fightclub but Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom looks interesting as well. You only have to pay $10 to get it all and more will be added soon.
PHXCC2014 was only a week ago and it already feels like forever already. So in memorial of the Con that was we asked last week "What do you do to recover from Conventions?"
Fanboy Binge watch a new TV show
Sarah Start a new sewing project
Hammer No pants time, junk food and movies
Whitney Same as Hammer
Bat Veg as much as possible with Video Games, Movies and the like
Speaking of cool things from E3, here are just a few on the ones that we talked about on the Podcast
Halo: Master Chief Collection/Halo 5 Trailer
- This one was like a announcement wrapped inside a teaser, and I thought it was damn cool.
Untitled Legend of Zelda Game
- They seemed to stress the open world feel of this one (which if you think about it isn't all that new to Zelda games). It looks damn pretty and colorful.
Uncharted 4: A Thieves End
- Just a CG trailer but it really sets a darker feel, hoping the new project heads don't take all of the fun out of Drake.
Rainbow Six: Siege
- Dude, both Bat and I had forgotten how much we missed Rainbow Six. If this trailer is a good indication of what we can expect from the actual game then count me in.
Splatoon:
- 4 v 4 3rd person shooter from Nintendo that we quickly dubbed the "bukkake game" about Squids shooting ink everywhere, it's not nearly as dirty as it sounds.
That's all for this weeks edition of the Sprecken ze Geek Blogcast and be sure to tune in next week. Same Hammer Time , same Bat Channel.

Welcome back friends, new and old! This weeks Podcast is straight from our Live panel on Sunday at this years Phoenix Comic Con. Episode 69 A: Maleficent is a hard name to make fun of
Welcome dear friends back to another week in geek! This week we review the new Disney live action embodiment of Maleficent. As usual we provide a Spoiler Free but if you want to really delve into what we thought of all aspects of the movie check out the Spoilerific review at the end of the podcast.
We also discuss this week’s Streaming Review, Pain and Gain. This was one of those strange movies that I wanted to see in the theaters but just never got around to it and it’s a movie that Bat all together just wanted to avoid. After watching it though I can say this one was a definite “wait for streaming” movie. We both enjoyed it enough to both give it 3/5 rating on Netflix and say you should give this one a watch. But we both agreed that this is a one off movie, not really worth repeat viewings. Listen in if you want to get our thoughts as to what we did and didn’t like about this one

Variety did a pretty interesting article on the creation of the film that can
be found here.

Wrapping things up this week we
answer our SzG Podquestion, "What is the next Disney movie that you want
to see get the Live Action treatment?" We had quite a few good answers this week. It was a lot of fun just discussing the possible ways Disney could tackle some of these live action adaptations. Heck, I would happily thrown down some dollars to see some of these.
