Episode 64: Double Stuff

Hello dear friends and welcome to another week in geek.  This week we review the 1985 B-horror movie "The Stuff" which Bat basically summarized as a movie about killer Ice Cream.  It's kinda funny that he compared it to Ice Cream after watching the movie and if you want to know why just watch the first ten minuets of this strange movie.

Both Bat and I gave this movie 3/5 on Netflix simply because the movie is just too damn enjoyable, intentional or not, to give it lower but it is a VERY bad movie that does not deserve anything higher.  Still worth a watch if you love campy/bad B-movies.
Our next movie up for review is another fan suggestion from Snyder.  His recommended movie for that dynamic duo to tackle is "Assault on Wallstreet."
This movie stars Batista (also Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy) as a well to do man who loses everything in the economic crash and decides to do something about it.   If you want to be a part of the review next week make sure to send us your reviews via Facebook, Twitter or email us at Batandhammer@gmail.com
It seems all of our bickering about having no news finally caught up with us as we have a smattering of news from across the board of geekdom.  Netflix raising their pricing as well as giving us a roulette feature, the HBO and Amazon Prime deal, Nintendo's very first Season Pass, the BvS and Cap 3 release date battle, Thanos is cast, Sony trademarking Bioshock movie, the Death of Wolverine, Cyborg cast and in BvS and finally one of Hammer's favorite comics, Chew, gets the movie treatment.

Here is the Netflix Roulette site in case you are curious.  They also have an android app available. Given that the guy who created it is already being courted by Netflix I am sure it won't be too long before we see this implemented into normal Netflix.

We also have a few bits of free shit, good shit

Playstation Plus has updated their list of free games for May.
PS4:      Stick it to the man!
PS3:      Puppeteer
              Pro Evolution Soccer 2014
              Skullgirls Encore
PSVita:  Surge Deluxe
              Limbo

Xbox Games for Gold  on the other hand has not updated yet so keep your eyes pealed.

Humble Bundle is also running a pretty good weekly sale that has 2 more days left.  With DRM copies of games like Cthulhu Saves the World, Limbo, Dust Force and Cave Story you will not be disappointed with this one.  they have 3 pay tiers of 0-$5.99, $6-9.99 and $10 and above.  Though you only have to pay more than $6 to get all the games I mentioned.

Now its time to wrap things up by reminding you of our SzG Podquestion, “What is your guilty pleasure bad comedy movie?”  We want to hear your answers so let us  via Facebook, Twitter or email us at Batandhammer@gmail.com

That's all for this weeks edition of Sprecken ze Geek and be sure to tune in next week.  Same Bat Time, Same Bat and Hammer Channel.

Episode 63: Making it up as we go

Welcome dear friends for your truncated week in geek.

This week we review the Netflix Documentary, "The Square."   A movie that both Bat and I sincerely enjoyed, although that may not be the word I'm looking for because this was an intense experience.  Needless to say we both recommend you move this movie up the the front of your que.

Next on the list we have Bat's suggestion of Stuff, which Bat described as a horror movie about killer ice cream....  Yup damn strange pick from 1985 and you can watch the trailer below.  If you want to be a part of the review next week make sure to send us your reviews via Facebook, Twitter or email us at Batandhammer@gmail.com

Bat and I both chat up the lack of news and discuss the the hate for Channing Tatum as Gambit and our reasons for not wanting sequels to some classic movies.

Episode 62: He is the Juggernaut Bitch

Welcome back to your regularly scheduled week in geek.  No theatrical review this week but Bat and I weigh in on the Fanboy suggested “Sexy Evil Genius.”  See Below for the trailer of a movie that Bat simply did not like and Hammer thoroughly enjoyed.

A group of guys are drawn to the same bar in downtown Los Angeles by an ex-girlfriend they all have in common.

To follow up Hammer fires back with his suggested movie “The Square,” which Bat is surprised to find is not another Japanese Camp movie but is a Netflix original documentary on Egyptian revolution  Tahrir Square and the Arab Spring.  See the trailer below and if you want to be a part of the review next week make sure to send us your reviews via Facebook, Twitter or email us at Batandhammer@gmail.com

We also rally together this past week’s nerd news that’s relevant to us with Nathan Fillion’s possible Guardians of the Galaxy cameo (could he be Richard Rider AKA Nova?), thoughts on a PS4 version of Last of Us, why we’re excited for Borderlands the Pre-Sequel,   thoughts on Amazon’s purchase of Comixology and (VERY) briefly debate how much we don’t need a Goonies 2.
