The Web's Comic Sense #1

The Web's Comic Sense ...totally should be read with "pigs in space" from the Muppets in mind
(follow Ken and Drawn to Comics on Facebook and Twitter)

Sorry for the re-post guys but I figured since I took so long to actually put this up it deserved it's own Blog post.  This way you can enjoy the first appearance (it's a reprint!) of The Web!

Marvel:  Right now Marvel is renumbering many of their issues under the "Marvel NOW" moniker.  The main goal of this is to gain (or regain) more readership by having issues start back at #1.  Now the continuity is still their but most all of these books have fresh story lines that are easier to pick up and run with.  The two that recommend this week were All New X-men and Uncanny X-men.

DC: Actually started the "renumbering" idea with their "New 52" comic line.  Though unlike Marvel NOW the continuity has been retooled on some of the characters.  Again this is a great place to start off at.  Plus many will either have Trade Paper Back Collections already out or out soon.  Though we didn't specifically reference just one Batman comic, as they are all pretty darn good, the one we are leading with this time is Batman & Robin.

Image: Is a great place to look for some comics outside the Marvel and DC super hero-verse.  You'll find many interesting stories written and drawn by some fantastic people here too.  The 3 recommend this week were SEX , The End Times of Bram and Ben and The Walking Dead .

Oni Press:  I honestly don't know too much about this publisher besides that they put out Scott Pilgrim and that really is all i need to know.  But Ken recommended Helheim for those looking for a Viking fun sort of tale.

Lastly Ken had a recommend comic to IGNORE ...  or really a comic that he wished hadn't arrived.  But it is here and really I have no idea what to say about this more than it's the Situation

That's about all folks.  Join us later this weekend as we review Jurassic Park 3D and G.I. Joe: Retaliation same Hammer time, same Bat channel.

Sprecken Ze Geek Episode 12: For Whom the Doorbell Rings

Welcome back True Believers to this, another week in geek.  We kinda have to play catch up being that it has been a solid 2 weeks since we really just blathered on about stuff... and stuff.  We heard a lot of positives about last weeks Podcast with Ken and look forward to doing it again. Heck we even introduced a few new people to a local comic shop.  Spreading the love that's our goal.  Also we'd like to thank the random old lady for ringing the doorbell and giving us the title of this weeks podcast, we were having a collective brain fart.

As you may have noticed the "Comic Sense" is still under construction, blame it on me and my tangent ridden life. But it will be updated soon, including my view on End Times with Bram and Ben next week.

This week I flew solo-ish and saw Olympus has Fallen with a few friends.  Now I remember seeing the trailer of this movie right before Die Hard 5 and thinking "I can't believe they are already promoting Die Hard 6."  Well I'll start this off pretty simple, this movie is far better than Die Hard 5. I sorely wish this was the next die hard, with just a few character swaps: Willis for Buttler and have Winstead has his daughter instead of Mitchell as the girlfriend, retool the back story a bit. Not to say that the movie is without it's flaws, because it has a few.  Such as weird choices by the characters/military that require a "suspension of disbelief" (thanks Bat).  I mean really snowy/ice covered road + President = sure why not lets drive over this dangerous bridge instead of flying in a safe helicopter?

I have more but why wallow on that when you can just sit back and realize its a movie and enjoy the explosions.  I'd say for those that enjoy big blockbuster movies give this one a shot.  I think this movie is best described as "Air Force One" where the secrete agent is the bad ass one.  Have fun pull up some pop corn and watch the chaos... also count the American flags, because there are a ton.

Thats all for this edition.  Don't forget to tune in next week same Hammer time, same Bat channel.

On a couple of other notes you may have noticed we are still in the process of transitioning from the old Podomatic site that we used to use to the new Spreckenzegeek.com site.  As of now most of the moving and shaking has been completed with Podomatic being completely taken down and all of your favorite episodes (that's all of them right?) now available on Spreckenzegeek.  The only two things we are still waiting on are iTunes and Sticher but those should be following soon.

I have gone through all of the old blog posts and replaced the old links with the gaudy one above as well as changed the side bar links to your right.  Again the iTunes is still down but we will be sure to post every where once they are up and running again.  So that means if you aren't already following us you can get all of your BandH news on Facebook and Twitter.

Last new thing... promise!  We are going to start up a segment featuring "The Web's" comic suggestions on what we should be reading.  Now a few names flew around like "Ken take my money!" and "Ken's Corner" but we have settled on "The Web's Comic Sense."  You know... spider sense... but about comics... it makes sense ::ha:: dang it! So without further adiue we present this weeks

Sprecken ze Geek Episode 10: Double Digits!

This week brings exciting and trepidatious news finds our comic duo out of space. What ever shall they do? In the top secret Mattcave our heroes have formulated a plan to host their website. With their trusty credit card, and beautiful webmistress, they have purchased their own web domain for hosting, but the nefarious random iTunes villain has foiled their plans to make this transition easy. How will our heroes fair?

Ok so to make that post a little easier to read, we have purchased our own hosting site, however we cannot just change the RSS feed on iTunes. What this means to you, our loyal audience, is that we are removing the current version of Sprecken Ze Geek from iTunes are resubmitting the hosting site. This weeks show also has a message to let you know about the transition. We ask that you please resubscribe to the new post when we have it up and running. We are going to leave the current podcast up until Wednesday and then start the transition period after that. Please bear with us while we make this not so easy transition. As always we enjoy and comments or feedback. Like every good super hero we will return in Sprecken Ze Geek 2: The Quest for More Money
